Abstract: In the 27th volume of History of Architecture, Dr. Duan Zhijun published his research Research on Method of Plan Measurements of Wood structure of Yuhua Hall in Yongshou Temple, using simplified arithmetic method of comparing relative index of measurements to possible inference of dimension converted to CHI. Based on further investigations into the existent materials of survey on Yuhua Hall in Yongshou Temple by the Society for Research in Chinese Architecture, the article rediscovers hints in the photos and manuscripts which reflect the geometrical bounds that regulate the design of the great wood structure and Dougong in particular. The article further endeavors to interpret the original architectural design and to decide the length of original construction ruler. On both research methodology and conclusion, the author wants to share different ideas with Mr. Duan.
The temple was demolished in 1940s.
